Hello my name is Amanda Johnson. I am nineteen years old (20 on February 12th!!!) and I am currently a junior at Cal State San Marcos. I was born and raised in Temecula, CA and I am still there today. I went to elementary school at Sparkman Elementary, middle school at Temecula Middle School, and spent the best four years of my schools days at Temecula Valley High School. I played varsity tennis for four years and sang in choir. Singing is my favorite hobby. I have been singing all my life and one day I would love to record a CD! Those two activities really made high school a memorable time for me. Now I am in college and I am studying to be a speech therapist for elementary school children. I am enjoying my time at CSUSM and plan to graduate from there.
Technology has been very helpful to me. Overall it has been pretty easy for me to adapt to new technologies, and to use them on a daily basis. I know the basics and as I progress in school I have learned a lot more important programs and tools that have helped me to succeed. I am a PC user and haven’t had very much experience with Macs. I would love to learn more about them. I like a lot of things about Mac and I could see myself using one someday. I wouldn’t say that I depend on technology, but I defiantly use it a lot. I check my email several times a day, I type and print things for work, I upload songs to my IPod, type papers and assignments for school and many other things. If my computer crashed I think I would be ok, but it would make things a lot more difficult.
The part of the mission statement that caught my attention was the part that states, “The mission of the College of Education community is to collaboratively transform public education…” I think this is so important and I feel that this mission statement will make a difference for future educators and the children they teach. We need more teachers that are passionate about what they do and are also good at what they do. I feel that Cal State San Marcos is doing a great job of fulfilling that goal.
